Mixed up Nights and Days

The house in the picture is across the street from me, sort of catty cornered. I sit right by the window on my couch a lot (too much!). So I see much of what goes on over there.

Most of the time during the day they have their yard lights on.  There are lights on each side of the door and one over the garage.  The lights burn most of the day and then at night when they should be on they usually aren't.  I think what happens is that they notice them on in the late afternoon and decide to turn them off.  Then they go away, a lot, and don't turn the lights on before they go.  Many times they are not
home before midnight so it is totally dark there until they get back home. They go to work in the mornings and do not turn the lights off, so they burn all day. 
I know it isn't any of my business but it really bugs me! I do not like the darkness that surrounds their house at night. As far as during the day it doesn't really bother me but I am sure it bothers their electric bill!

I am tempted to buy them an electric eye for their lights for a Christmas gift (just kidding).
